Arborfield

Consent granted 1 April 2015

Crest Nicholson was appointed as lead developer to design and deliver this new 21st century garden village in Berkshire on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). As a part of the Ministry of Defence, it was crucial to achieve a quality and legacy-led development.

  • Working in partnership, via a joint venture arrangement with a public body.

  • Planning permission granted within c.14 months.

  • 2,000 new homes, with a secondary school, a primary school, shops, a country park, community facilities, sports facilities and green infrastructure.

  • Early delivery of infrastructure through close working with Wokingham Borough Council such as Bohunt secondary school, a country park and sports facilities.

  • Iconic public art gateways celebrating the vital role the horse has played throughout military history from their stables at Arborfield.

  • Fast paced housing delivery, driven by the early delivery of infrastructure and a balance of building parcels and selling parcels to partner developers.

"The redevelopment of the former Arborfield Garrison has proven to be the most successful and fastest delivery of all our current allocations. This has been largely down to the teamwork and close working relationship between officers and Crest Nicholson, together driving the project forward at a demanding pace. Crest Nicholson’s development calibre and dedicated approach have been excellent, and their public consultation has been exemplar, being a huge help in delivering our ambitions.”
